Scott, if your life had a face I would punch it.

In the last week I have been trying to figure out the answer to one of life's great questions, namely:
How much bread, fried chicken and dairy can one person consume, and can they do it without opening the door, hugging the grim reaper and inviting him in for coffee and cookies.

Turns out that it's not as bad as you'd expect. Sure, I've put on a couple of pounds, and I'm curious about why I'm comfort eating like this, but in the end I've enjoyed stuffing my face with food I know to be bad for me in the quantities I've been shoving in my facehole.

Do you know how hard it is for a writer to get consistent work? No, me neither since I'm having trouble securing any outside of my day-to-day job. If you have need for a writer-for-hire, and you're reading this, click on the thing to email me.

This week I was tasked with "cleaning up" the company.com content. This meant going back over 200 or so pieces, discarding, editing, link-checking, making it a little more SEO friendly, and that kind of stuff. I figured a week would be enough time. That was Monday. On Tuesday I was told to wrap it up by the end of the day because I'd be doing something else on Wednesday. So I thought about something that an old friend told me -- every job has three elements: scope, quality, and timescale. You can't change one and not affect the others. Reducing timescale meant a reduction of scope for me. So I embedded new links and called it good.

Wednesday I had a new job unveiled -- creating tutorials for the site, but first I had to determine what the tutorials should be for. So that was a fun day. I arrived at the office on Thursday expecting to pick that job up but...again, re-tasked.

Company.com has launched a financial services arm for small business financing. It's called CFX Financial Exchange or to use its full name, "The Company.com Financial Exchange Financial Exchange powered by Company.com." On Thursday we were all put on jobs to launch this thing. I was given social media outreach. So if you're reading this, please become a fan of CFX on Facebook, but more than that, tell any small business owners you know to do the same. And that's been the focus of the last couple of days.

I have had some fun catching up with my little brother, who I'm immensely proud of -- he's one of the smartest people I know, and if you needed proof, check out the Banff Academy English Department web site he created.

I've also had a very lucky little time -- I was given tickets to see Dave Matthews Band a couple of weeks ago (tickets that sold out in less then 30 minutes, I might add), and I also won a pair of passes for Scott Pilgrim vs The World. If you don't know about it, watch the trailer:

I can't rave enough about this movie. If Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead had Edgar Wright's directorial fingerprints on them, then SP vs The World has giant hand-prints all over it. It never stops, the editing is fast and slick and is by any stretch of the imagination, the closest thing to Spaced that Wright has done since that series ended a decade ago. And I am very very happy about that. I'm also happy that, following on from directing their After Hours video last year, Wright hooked up with the Bluetones again and used their song Sleazy Bed Track in Scott Pilgrim.

My life isn't exactly what you'd call interesting, but I'm honestly glad for the still waters. There's been so much turbulence this year that a little smooth sailing feels like a much needed rest, because who knows what the rest of the year holds?
